Exit Slip: Inquiry project ideas

Memorable Outcomes of competition and/or cooperation in the math/physics classroom

Planning how to be in contact with the 'real world of teaching and learning' for Inquiry projects.

-Talk to professors, teachers, parents, family, and students about competition and group work. Talk to teachers and students during Tuesday visits.

-Ask teachers about class participation in each case.

 Questions to ask:

Teacher Q - What type of problems arise?

Teacher Q - What are the benefits in each case?

Student Q- I'm interested in C/C.What are your most memorable experiences in the classroom? Were you in a group and/or competing?

Student Q- What motivates your effort towards your marks and grade? Do you compete for the highest grade among your friends? Do you try to beat your previous grade?

Student Q - What class games are your favorite and why?

Student Q - Are labs best done alone, in pairs, or in groups?

Student Q- Are projects best done alone, in pairs, or in groups?

Student Q -What does grades day look like? Tension?

Thinking about focusing topics, planning interactive activity.

For 15min presentation to class, devote 5-7 mins for interactive activity.

This activity could be a group competition between two groups. The participates would fully immerse themselves into the activity. Half of each group would be observers noting the benefits and short-comings of the activities components. After the activity is over, there could be a short debrief session for the whole group.
